Ultimate Snorkel Bucket List

awesome snorkel destinations

If you enjoyed exploring the world above water, you will be amazed by the incredible world beneath the surface of the water. The ocean makes up to 71% of the earth’s surface and there is so much to explore. From beautiful fish, plant life, geological formations and wrecks that go back in time, underwater experiences will never cease to amaze you. Snorkeling is an easy way to start exploring the underwater world. I’ve been snorkeling in some really incredible destinations already, but there are so many noteworthy ones that I still need to check out. See my top snorkel bucket list places and comment below if more I should include!

Komodo National Park Indonesia

This National Park is famous for the lizards, but the waters are just as impressive. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Philippines

With so many beautiful islands and iconic blue waters there are so many well-known snorkel spots in the Philippines. Bay of Donsol boasts incredible whale sharks.

Maldives

On every dreamer’s bucket list is this collection of picturesque islands and incredible diving and snorkeling. Baa Atoll is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and is the largest group of coral reefs in the Indian Ocean. You can see hundreds of manta rays between June and November.

French Polynesia

More crystal waters and white sand beaches abound in the islands here. French Polynesia is a collection of 118 incredible islands and atolls with some of the most visited including Bora Bora, Mo’orea, and Tahiti. After splurging for an iconic overwater bungalow, you will have to see the waters below.

The Galapagos

These islands located off the coast of Ecuador have some of the most biodiverse animals. You will be amazed with the variety of both land and sea creatures. One of the top places to check out is Devil’s Crown which boasts eagle rays, reef sharks and beautiful fish.

Bermuda

If shipwrecks are your scene, you will have to check out some of the best in Bermuda. They don’t call it the Bermuda Triangle for nothing. While I have been to Bermuda twice, I have not had the opportunity to snorkel and see some of these incredible sunken ships.

Silver Bank Dominican Republic

One of the few places you can snorkel along humpback whales between December and April.

Palau

This small island in Oceania has jellyfish lake. These stingless jellyfish make for quiet the snorkel experience.

Silfra Iceland

Snorkeling through the Silfra fissure is a super unique experience where you get to float between two continents in Iceland. The visibility and purity of the water is unparalleled.
