wytheville
Wytheville is a small town in southwestern Virginia at the crossroads of the I-81 and I-77 highway. It was named after George Wythe, who signed the Declaration of Independence. It is a great town for a one day stop on your travel journeys. It is at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are some incredible little spots to check out and so many nice hikes. There are also plentiful hotel and motel options for an overnight stay. We stopped here as a great halfway point between Baltimore and Nashville (5.5 hours each way). Since Thomas had to work during the day, that gave me the full day to explore this awesome little town.

hikes in wytheville
TERRAIN PARK
This is a little park in town that has a trail with a little stream and waterfall. It is very tranquil and had a bunch of great foliage including flowers, mushrooms, and trees. This is not a strenuous hike and more like a walk but there are some parts that are not flat. The trail that I did was the Crystal Springs Trail. This trail is a 2-mile loop with 350 feet elevation gain. Dogs can be on this trail but must be on leash.
High Rocks Trail Hike
This hike is approximately 2.8 miles out and back trail with 587 feet elevation gain that is ranked as moderate. Dogs can use the trail but must be kept on a leash. It is part of the big Survey Wildlife Management Area. There is a small parking area off a gravel road Broadway Road route 640. When you search on google it gives you a different location, but the actual trail is off route 640, so make sure you know where trail starts so you are going in the correct direction. It gives a stunning overlook of Wytheville below.
