Chalk Sound National Park
Chalk Sound is a lagoon with incredible aquamarine water and several small islands. It is in the Southwest area of Providenciales. It is stunningly beautiful. It can be explored by viewpoints that can be accessed by the road on the southern aspect of the sound. You can also kayak and paddleboard to explore. There also pontoon boat cruises at sunset of Chalk Sound. Powered watercraft use is prohibited to protect the national park.
Getting to Chalk Sound
You can drive to Chalk Sound and access it at a few different points. If your plan is only to explore via the shore is to head to the Monika Chalk Sound View. You can also stop at the Chalk Sound View. If visiting the area, you should stop at Neptune Villas. Here you can grab a bite to eat at Las Brisas and take in the view of the sound. You can rent kayaks or paddleboards or go on a pontoon boat ride at sunset to explore the sound via water. While in the area you can also drive over to Taylor Bay or Sapodilla Beach. I would recommend renting a car to explore this area since various viewpoints to take in. If you don’t have a rental car, I would recommend drop off at Neptune Villas. From Neptune Villas you can easily walk to Sapodilla Beach.
Viewpoints
If you want to really get a great on land experience, check out on Monika Chalk Sound View. Here you can get out your car and take a small walk down the water. You can cross over to another small island and explore as well but the highlight of this stop climbing up some stairs for an overlook. It is almost easy to miss this but as you walk down the water the climb is the right and brings you up a small hill to get a sweeping view of the sound. You can also stop at Chalk Viewpoint but there is currently some construction, so it is a small view. If you want to dine and take in a view you can check out Las Brisas Restaurant.
Water activities
Kayak or Paddleboard
If you have your own kayak or paddleboard, drive down Chalk Sound Drive and go onto Oleander Circle and launch from here. If you are staying in this area most villas have free paddleboard or kayaks for use. The Neptune Villas have rental paddleboards, kayaks, and clear kayaks for rental. If you stay at the Neptune Villas the paddleboards and kayaks are free to use but you need to pay to rent the clear kayaks. There is a current and wind can exacerbate that, so it is much easier going one way than the other. Make sure to account for that when you go out with your kayak. Because of the winds and currents paddleboarding is more challenging than kayaking as well.
Boat Tour Chalk Sound
From Neptune Villas, you can also do a sunset pontoon boat cruise for $70 per person which includes some light refreshments.

While you are in this area you are very close to two of the best ranked beaches in Providenciales: Taylor Bay and Sapodilla Beach. Taylor Bay is a fan favorite with its crystal-clear waters and shallow relaxing area. It is great for families due to the shallow and calm waters. To get to this area you will street park and walk down a short walkway to the beach. Bring your own chairs, towels, umbrellas, coolers. Sapodilla Beach is a great beach with calm waters and beautiful blue waters. You can rent chairs here. There are a few stalls selling food and drinks at the public entrance. You can also rent jet skis here as well. If you are up for walk and aerial view of this beach you can climb up the Sapodilla Hill and Rock Carvings trail which gives an overlook of both Sapodilla Beach and Chalk Sound. You can also check out Omar’s Beach Hut Restaurant on Five Cays Road. You will really love this area of the island.
