Travel Tips for Attending a Golf Tournament with a Baby

Golf Tournaments

Attending sporting events is not only a great local activity you can do but also a great activity to do for or with traveling. Most sporting events can absorb a crying infant through the cheers and general atmosphere. But golf is known for its tense silence during player moves. It also is not localized to the stands but offers green lush landscapes, walkways and movement. There are several tournaments throughout the United States.

Our experience attending a golf tournament

If you read advice on this you will get a mixed bag because in general golfers prefer quiet for their swings/putting. We luckily have an easy going baby who only really cries when hungry or super tired. We made sure to keep him fed and he loves sleeping in the stroller so we walked around for him to sleep and didn’t run into any issues. It could have gone another way with him crying but if you have a crying child you can easily walk away from the areas the golfers are hitting. There are lots of paths and places to walk where babies or children could be a little louder without disrupting the golf.  The crowds thin out after the 16th hole in general if you are looking for a quieter area. You will know your child best to know if this is a good idea to bring them or not. It is a bit of work so another option is always to get a babysitter and go without a baby.

Top Tips with a baby

1. You are allowed a stroller into the event
2. You can bring in a small cooler with breast milk or formula
3. All your belongings need to be in clear bags- we got multiple storage ziplock bags and put our pump, pump parts, diapers and wipes, changing pad, and other accessories so all could be seen at the checkpoint. We brought a collapsible tote bag to put everything in once we were through security just for ease.
4. Bring a portable pump – nursing/pumping cover nowhere designated for pumping/nursing so you may need to find a secluded area.
