My US National Monument Bucket List

national park BUCKET LIST

The United States has 63 National Parks but also boasts 129 National Monuments. The difference between a National Park and Monument is that parks were set aside for use by people for their scenic and natural beauty. The goal is for these areas to be educations, inspirational and recreational for visitors. National Monuments on the other had are preserved for their historic, cultural, prehistoric or scientific purposes. There is no relevance to size of the area.  In addition there are national seashores, lakeshores and recreation areas. The United States is teeming with incredible landscapes, history, nature and recreation and these monuments are a great way to see some of the top highlights. I have been thoroughly enjoying discovering these National Parks and Monuments. I have been to 38 National Parks thus far and 21 National Monuments but there are so many more on my bucket list. The all capitalized parks with check mark are ones I have visited. If I have blogged about it, you can click and it will bring you to that specific page. I am still working on getting pages for all the places I’ve been. Thanks for your patience. The ones with the little hiker are National Monuments I have not visited yet.

my top BUCKET LIST

I have just begun my journey in exploration of our incredible National Monuments but have so many places I still want to go. Some of my top destinations I want to check out next include: Rainbow Bridge, Cedar Breaks, Buck Island Reef, and Walnut Canyon. However, I will go where the wind takes me. Which parks should I put at the top of my list?
